It's your first weekend home alone, which is a huge responsibility.

Also a huge responsibility? Taking care of the weird monster you found in the woods!

Monster of the Weekend is a short, lighthearted adventure/virtual pet game, where the assortment of weird crap you feed to your little monster will determine how it grows and changes.

But remember: nothing lasts forever. And your mom is allergic to pets! Better make this weekend count.

CONTROLS:

Arrow Keys or WASD: Represents the D-Pad on a Gameboy. Use them to move around and navigate menus.

Alt, Z, J, or Forward Slash: Represents the 'A' Button on a Gameboy. Use it to interact with objects, advance text, and confirm menu choices.

Control, K, X, or Period: Represents the 'B' Button on a Gameboy. I don't think you actually use it for anything, but you can back out of the pause menu with it if you want.

Enter: Represents the Start Button on a Gameboy. Use it to enter the pause menu.

Shift: Represents the Select Button on a Gameboy. Use it to reset the position of you and your monster on the current screen. (There are a couple of spots where the monster can trap you in a corner. That scamp. Anyway, if that happens, press Select/Shift)

Personally, I like to use WASD to move, and rest my right index and middle fingers on Period and Forward Slash. That lets me easily press Enter and Shift with my other fingers if necessary.

This is a super cute game and I love being able to experiment with all the endings! I think it would be nice if there was an unlockable monster dex so you could see all the variants after replaying multiple times, but otherwise it's a really fun little experience.

This is so cute! I love the monster so much :)

This was a great, short game. Love the art and that old gameboy feel to it.

the monster body-blocked me into a corner and I got stuck TT

See above for the workaround. Apologies, that corridor is too tight and I should fix it.

<3 Saw that as soon as I posted. Wonderful game, btw. My chat loved all the monsters we got feeding our little fella

My bad, that is a known issue and you are not the only one to encounter it. If you press Right Shift on your keyboard, your position on the current screen resets, which should allow you to continue playing. Sorry I don't have a more elegant solution for you.

thank you! Also, I really like the game!

this just happened to me and select isn’t pulling me out of it :( love the game tho!

I gave the monster pizza and that made them grow, then Saturday I gave them the apple and they turned back to being an egg. Not to feed them healthy food, noted 😎

Cute concept and dialogues, looking forward to the rest of the game!

Thank you! Aren't we all just monsters searching for a pizza to call our own?
